in first-time cheekpieces, ran up to best, the ambitious campaign to which he's been subjected finally paying dividends; dictated, shaken up under 2f out, edged left over 1f out, drew clear final 1f, had the run of the race; a penalty for this win will probably leave him hard to place from now on.

was in top form when last seen, but might have needed the run after 9 months off; chased leader, ridden 2f out, no extra final 1f; likely to be much closer to form next time.

had pushed subsequent Irish Derby winner Westover all the way at Sandown on reappearance and was strong in the betting despite 7-month absence, so this has to go down as disappointing; dwelt, in touch, ridden over 2f out, not quicken; it's still very early days with him and the percentage call is that he remains capable of better, perhaps when returned to 1¼m+.

failed in no uncertain terms to confirm the chunk of progression he'd shown at Lingfield, struggling before the longer trip came into play; chased leader, raced freely, ridden 2f out, weakened.
