almost certainly benefited from the fitting of blinkers as he belatedly kickstarted his career in handicaps, sufficiently focused to defy with authority a mark just 1 lb lower than that he'd found beyond him on his first 3 attempts; mid-division, shaken up home turn, quickened from 2f out, led inside final 100 yds, soon clear.

Contrasting fortunes for the only 2 3-y-os to take part, as one beat only one home while the other beat everything, at the chief expense of a pair who'd been shaping better than their bare form figures might have suggested; it was a truly-run race, the third making his bid before the front duo.

SOOGHAN almost certainly benefited from the fitting of blinkers as he belatedly kickstarted his career in handicaps, sufficiently focused to defy with authority a mark just 1 lb lower than that he'd found beyond him on his first 3 attempts; mid-division, shaken up home turn, quickened from 2f out, led inside final 100 yds, soon clear.

PARTY ISLAND (IRE) left recent turf efforts behind back on all-weather, just as expected, going for home before the pair ahead; in touch, produced to lead over 2f out, headed final 100 yds, demoted to third post.

BRASCA stepped up markedly on his comeback run; close up, led briefly over 2f out, one paced.

DUTY OF CARE showed the clear benefit of a recent run and can step up again, not unduly punished as he closed in late, immediately proving his stamina for the longer trip; held up, shaken up under 3f out, stayed on gradually, never nearer.

MIRAMICHI (IRE) was something of a let-down and is proving expensive to follow overall, beaten 12 times in a row now, all bar 2 of them at 7/1 or shorter; led 3f, remained prominent, pushed along straight, one paced.

ALMUFEED (IRE) should be sharper for the run, his first since March, ridden more patiently and never involved.
