back in headgear, seemed to excel himself, showing much improved form to gain a win at this level; dwelt and looked reluctant early, raced well off the pace, rapid headway on outer 3f out, led 2f out, in command soon after, pushed out; this ended up being a very thin race for the grade and he'll do well to repeat it, whilst it's worth bearing in mind that he hinted at a quirky side in the first half of the contest.

shaped as if retaining a portion of ability after 12 months off, difficult to say quite how much judged on this display, understandably looking a shade rusty when the race began in earnest but still only finding one too good, albeit one that she'd have beaten comfortably at her best; tracked pace, ridden over 2f out, kept on, no impression on winner but clear of rest; it remains to be seen whether or not she can stand more training than has been the case in the last couple of years.

well backed, seemed to excel himself up in grade, though did so despite leaving the impression that the way this unfolded didn't play to his strengths; in touch, outpaced over 2f out, stayed on; this improvement isn't unfounded given his recent progress and he may pull out more still under the right circumstances, also likely to stay beyond 1½m if required.

easy to back, shaped as if better for the run back on all-weather after 11 weeks off, though left the firm impression that he's still capable of smart form on this surface; close up, travelled fluently, led briefly over 2f out, no extra over 1f out; there's a good chance that he'll enjoy another profitable winter.

is better judged on previous form, not seen to best effect the way this went; tracked pace, outpaced over 2f out, kept on but never threatened thereafter; his best efforts (solid form) make him a force at this level.

who'd had a wind operation since last seen and was easy to back, wasn't seen to best effect after 11 weeks off, needing the emphasis more on stamina; raced off the pace, outpaced over 2f out, kept on, not unduly punished; he'll benefit from a return to at least 1¾m (likely to be suited by 2m) and is worth persevering with, still low mileage for his age.

in a tongue strap, isn't really up to this level, her last 3 defeats in France showing as much, but she did shape a bit better than the distance beaten might suggest, her finishing effort lacking; raced off the pace, took strong hold, shaken up over 2f out, found less than looked likely.

All 10 ran.

Winning Owner: Mr Con Harrington

Time: 2m 29.02s Closing Sectional: (3.00f): 36.50s (102.2%)

A fairly interesting listed event on paper but this isn't form to take at face value, several of the more likely sorts failing to fire with Kasperenko springing a surprise, his slingshot move from the back of the field 3f out catching his rivals napping.

KASPERENKO back in headgear, seemed to excel himself, showing much improved form to gain a win at this level; dwelt and looked reluctant early, raced well off the pace, rapid headway on outer 3f out, led 2f out, in command soon after, pushed out; this ended up being a very thin race for the grade and he'll do well to repeat it, whilst it's worth bearing in mind that he hinted at a quirky side in the first half of the contest.

ARCHITECTURE (IRE) shaped as if retaining a portion of ability after 12 months off, difficult to say quite how much judged on this display, understandably looking a shade rusty when the race began in earnest but still only finding one too good, albeit one that she'd have beaten comfortably at her best; tracked pace, ridden over 2f out, kept on, no impression on winner but clear of rest; it remains to be seen whether or not she can stand more training than has been the case in the last couple of years.

PODEMOS (GER) well backed, seemed to excel himself up in grade, though did so despite leaving the impression that the way this unfolded didn't play to his strengths; in touch, outpaced over 2f out, stayed on; this improvement isn't unfounded given his recent progress and he may pull out more still under the right circumstances, also likely to stay beyond 1½m if required.

WATERSMEET easy to back, shaped as if better for the run back on all-weather after 11 weeks off, though left the firm impression that he's still capable of smart form on this surface; close up, travelled fluently, led briefly over 2f out, no extra over 1f out; there's a good chance that he'll enjoy another profitable winter.

CROWNED EAGLE is better judged on previous form, not seen to best effect the way this went; tracked pace, outpaced over 2f out, kept on but never threatened thereafter; his best efforts (solid form) make him a force at this level.

ATTY PERSSE (IRE) who'd had a wind operation since last seen and was easy to back, wasn't seen to best effect after 11 weeks off, needing the emphasis more on stamina; raced off the pace, outpaced over 2f out, kept on, not unduly punished; he'll benefit from a return to at least 1¾m (likely to be suited by 2m) and is worth persevering with, still low mileage for his age.

COLONIAL CLASSIC (FR) was below form; raced wide, mid-field, ridden over 2f out, not quicken; she's largely struggled kept to this sort of level over the last couple of years.

DUBAI DUNES in a tongue strap, isn't really up to this level, her last 3 defeats in France showing as much, but she did shape a bit better than the distance beaten might suggest, her finishing effort lacking; raced off the pace, took strong hold, shaken up over 2f out, found less than looked likely.

DRAGON MALL (USA) without the headgear this time, probably needed the run on first outing since leaving David Simcock after 8 months off, the trip also an unknown; dwelt, mid-field, not settle fully, lost place home turn, no further impression; next run should reveal more.

MYSTIC MEG whose rider put up 2 lb overweight, was again out of her depth turned out quickly (off just 4 days) but clearly wasn't 100% on the day; led, took strong hold, headed over 2f out, stopped quickly.
