back on all-weather after 7 weeks off, ran right up to his best to maintain his unbeaten run on synthetics and this opens up more options regarding trip, seeming suited by this extra 1f if anything; mid-field, switched inside over 2f out, good headway soon after, stayed on to lead dying strides; this puts down a marker for Finals Day, already at the level required to put him thereabouts in the Mile, whilst his strength at the finish suggests there could be some improvement in the pipeline this winter.

developed into a smart performer last winter and hit the ground running after 7 months off, looking better than ever in fact; waited with, travelled well, good headway 2f out, ridden soon after, edged ahead final 100 yds, headed late on; capable of winning a race at this level in the coming weeks, at either this trip or back at 7f.

showed benefit of recent return/debut for yard, matching his smart French form at the second time of asking in this country; tracked pace, shaken up over 2f out, every chance 1f out, kept on; clearly well suited by the demands of all-weather racing and will remain competitive at this level.

after 9 weeks off and back on all-weather for first time since winning reappearance, proved better than ever, not beaten far in a deeper contest than last time; prominent, produced to lead 2f out, headed final 100 yds, ran on; ran to similar level to winner when taking his 3-lb penalty into account, so is another who merits consideration for Finals Day should connections opt to go that route, when he'll be on a level playing field.

has progressed well this year and ran creditably upped in grade after 8 weeks off; mid-field, headway home turn, pushed along over 2f out, no extra final 100 yds; physique (rangy colt) suggests he may go on improving, and this shows he's worth his place in this grade.

after 5 weeks off, lacks the potential of some in this line-up but took well to all-weather, leaving the firm impression he'd have gone close to winning had the cards fallen differently; waited with, travelled as well as any, headway 2f out, in touch and still gaining when badly hampered over 1f out, lost momentum but kept on well final 100 yds for hands-and-heels ride, passing the post with running left.

is better judged on good recent form as he was undone by how things developed on this occasion; slowly into stride, in rear, met some trouble early in straight, ran on late, not unduly punished, had a hopeless task from position, would have benefited from a stronger gallop; has already shown his worth at this level and remains one to be interested in if kept on the go this winter.

A listed race that resulted in a fairly bunched finish due to a steadyish gallop, some hard-luck stories a by-product, Stormy Antarctic the worst affected, but plenty brought smart form to the table anyway and it was one of those who came out on top, Second Thought improving a shade if anything, and this is an up-to-scratch renewal.
