improved the amount needed to defy a lofty mark making his handicap debut after 7 months off, crucially jumping more fluently as he took his record when completing over hurdles to 3 from 4; went with zest in touch, going well when produced to lead entering straight, ridden from 2 out, responded well; will have to find more still to overcome what promises to be an excessive weights rise.

got back on the up second time back, making a much better fist of things than at Aintree, though he'll face stronger handicaps of this class on other days, the distance back to the third unlikely to go unnoticed, either; tracked pace, chased leader 2 out, ran on.

All 7 ran. Hurdles: 10. Race Distance Adjustment: +15 yds

Winning Owner: Youneverknow Partnership

Time: 5m 1.9s Closing Sectional: (5.30f): 70.80s (107.6%)

A typically open Pertemps qualifier but even the pair who dominated the latter stages would make little appeal in the Final; the pace was steady, the field covered by little ground early in the straight.

YOUNEVERCALL (IRE) improved the amount needed to defy a lofty mark making his handicap debut after 7 months off, crucially jumping more fluently as he took his record when completing over hurdles to 3 from 4; went with zest in touch, going well when produced to lead entering straight, ridden from 2 out, responded well; will have to find more still to overcome what promises to be an excessive weights rise.

DUKE STREET (IRE) got back on the up second time back, making a much better fist of things than at Aintree, though he'll face stronger handicaps of this class on other days, the distance back to the third unlikely to go unnoticed, either; tracked pace, chased leader 2 out, ran on.

L'AIGLE ROYAL (GER) took a sideways rather than forwards step from his winning return, perhaps set to prove no less of an underachiever for this yard; waited with, not settle fully, ridden soon after 3 out, held from next, plugged on, went third late on.

PARISH BUSINESS (IRE) added to a patchy record, a tame display considering he had the run of things; jumped sketchily, led until entering straight, weakened 2 out.

FLORESCO (GER) shaped as if amiss after 6 months off; tracked pace, seemed to lose action briefly early in straight, eased off.
