after 3 months off, produced a career best at a track where he goes so well; tracked pace, travelled smoothly, jumped on briefly twelfth, led again approaching last, responded well; he's admirably reliable for one of his age, acknowledging he's had nothing like so much racing as most 12-y-os.

could easily be excused his previous run and ran as well as he ever has little more than a fortnight on, typically tanking through the race for the most part and hardly found wanting at the business end this time, either; held up, hit sixth, smooth headway after 3 out, shaken up between last 2, stayed on run-in, pulled clear of rest.

after 3 months off, again ran below form, possible that his best days are behind him, though it's worth noting his yard has had a thin time of it this winter; led, headed briefly twelfth, headed again after 2 out, no extra.

disappointed after 10 weeks off, his finishing effort concerningly weak; patiently ridden, took closer order before tenth, every chance after 3 out, mistake next, found little.

Plenty failed to give their running and, whilst the veterans that ended up pulling right away are clearly in excellent heart, it's hard to believe they improved anything like so much as the result might suggest; the whole field was still in contention approaching 3 out.
