A Grade 2 that took less winning than seemed likely, Getaway Trump patently not at his best, and it was run at a false pace, too, the winner having the run of things from the front and the form maybe not quite all it seems.

ROUGE VIF (FR) is a useful novice and, with Getaway Trump patently not at his best and Windsor Avenue finding the emphasis a bit too much on speed, he took advantage with a more professional display than at Newcastle on his previous start, in all probability needing to do little more than reproduce the form he showed behind Mister Fisher at Kempton; dictated, not fluent sixth, pushed along approaching 2 out, asserted between last 2, won cosily; he's got the physique and demeanour of one who should be at least as good over fences next season, chasing likely to make more sense than the handicap hurdle route.

WINDSOR AVENUE (IRE) couldn't advance his form any further upped in grade, but that's because he was unsuited by the trip, still with potential as a hurdler after 5 starts in the sphere but needing more of a test (at least over this sort of trip) to show it, still a really good long-term prospect despite his age; prominent, shaken up entering straight, not quicken approaching 2 out, kept on well run-in, took second close home.

ELVIS MAIL (FR) continues to progress, exceeding expectations in the face of a really tough task, though he's likely to pay for this in terms of his BHA mark, the sensible option in the short term being to go back to ordinary novice company and have another go at trying to defy a penalty; dropped out, hit seventh, headway approaching 2 out, chased leader approaching last, kept on, lost second close home.

GETAWAY TRUMP (IRE) disappointed and is much better judged on previous form, possibly finding the race coming too soon just a fortnight after his big effort at Ascot, though he wasn't the only one from the stable not to give his running on the card; tracked pace, shaken up approaching 2 out, tied up approaching last; he's liable to bounce back when next seen.

STRONG GLANCE was in a first-time tongue strap after 9 weeks off (during which time he'd undergone a breathing operation) and, notwithstanding he faced a stiff task on what he'd achieved over hurdles, again disappointed in view of his bumper form, connections having their work cut out to find the key to him, a marked tendency to jump right being a concern on this occasion; held up, jumped right, driven after 3 out, left behind; on a positive note, he is at least likely to get a lenient handicap mark judged on his useful bumper form.

GET OUT THE GATE (IRE) faced another stiff task but might have been expected to do better all the same; mid-field, shaken up entering straight, no response.
