had been off 6 weeks but picked up where he left off at Ayr, confirming the promise of that and his earlier Newcastle run, his jumping holding up fine this time; patiently ridden, smooth headway out wide twelfth, loomed up straight, produced to lead between last 2, idled/edged left and just kept up to work; will remain well-in on old form and, basically a comprehensive winner here, he's capable of following up.

not only matched but stepped up on his reappearance run, no mean feat given his age/lengthy pre-season absence, clear with a thriving winner; tracked pace, upsides 2 out, led briefly soon after, stuck to task.

ran one of his better races, if anything doing too much faced with competition for the lead; soon led out wide, headed 3 out, rallied until next, no extra; there'll be some weak staying handicaps in the North he could potentially dominate if he's kept on the go.

A well-run handicap, with 3 of them vying for the lead and ensuring the emphasis was on stamina, the front pair both sitting off it and coming clear in the final 2f, some strength to their form with both potentially well treated, even if the runner-up is a teenager now.
