whose stable is going well, proved at least as good as ever to get off the mark for the season, doing everything right on the day but possibly not so good as a 12-length win makes him look; prominent, pushed along after 3 out, led soon after last, stayed on, going clear late as the runner-up tired badly; he could go up more than this win warrants.

remains in good form but was found wanting at the business end after looking like he might win; soon led, travelled best, committed 2 out, headed soon after last, still at least 10 lengths clear of the third at that point but faltered badly flat and just held on for second with rider taking it easy.

back down in trip, took a step back in the right direction, making some late inroads in a race that didn't go his way; dropped out, not always fluent, ridden when mistake 5 out, headway under pressure after 3 out, plugged on, never a threat.

well backed, wasn't seen to best effect after 11 weeks off, in the wrong place the way the race developed, not that he did enough to think he'd have gone close had things taken shape differently; held up, outpaced 3 out, made little impression.

A weak handicap run at a steady gallop and it's probably muddling form, the winner flattered to win by so far after the runner-up - with whom he dominated from 4 out - folded on the run-in.

AYE WELL whose stable is going well, proved at least as good as ever to get off the mark for the season, doing everything right on the day but possibly not so good as a 12-length win makes him look; prominent, pushed along after 3 out, led soon after last, stayed on, going clear late as the runner-up tired badly; he could go up more than this win warrants.

JET MASTER (IRE) back down in trip, took a step back in the right direction, making some late inroads in a race that didn't go his way; dropped out, not always fluent, ridden when mistake 5 out, headway under pressure after 3 out, plugged on, never a threat.

LIGHTENING ROD well backed, wasn't seen to best effect after 11 weeks off, in the wrong place the way the race developed, not that he did enough to think he'd have gone close had things taken shape differently; held up, outpaced 3 out, made little impression.
