A few notable names have contested this over the years, none more so than 2020 winner Shishkin, and while Act of Innocence has a long way to go to match that illustrious predecessor, he really didn't put a foot wrong in landing the odds, running to a useful level and leaving the impression there was a lot more in the tank had it been required.

ACT OF INNOCENCE (IRE) seemingly benefited from the longer trip as he resumed winning ways, showing all the hallmarks - not least accurate jumping - of a really smart novice; raced wide, close up, travelled fluently, led 2 out, driven briefly flat, had plenty in hand; the Turners is his obvious Festival target considering connections already have Old Park Star for the Supreme, and he'll head to the Festival open to lots more improvement and with the right profile to make a major impact.

GLANCE AT MIDNIGHT got back on track granted a longer break, seeing out the longer trip well; chased leader, jumped fluently, challenged before 2 out, left behind by winner flat; a Grade 1 novice at a Festival will be beyond him, but he's a likeable type who should have a good future, most likely as a high-quality handicapper.

SINNATRA (IRE) ran respectably without finding any more progress, a bit too exuberant in the lead beyond 2m for the first time; made running, raced freely, not fluent sixth, headed when untidy 2 out, no extra; it's still been a fine start from him over hurdles and he's the type to make an even better chaser.

TIDDESLEY WOOD faced a stiffer task in this grade and wasn't up to it; dropped out, raced freely, not fluent sixth, 4 out, some headway after 3 out, no further impression.

FRESH PERSPECTIVE in first-time tongue strap, underperformed, not helped by his jumping; held up, mistakes second, fifth, pushed along 3 out, weakened next.

LADY TADITA faced a stiffer task in this grade against males for the first time but didn't run much of a race, the longer trip neither here nor there; held up, shaken up 4 out, struggling next.
