confirmed promise of reappearance and continues to go the right way, impressing with how he travelled through the race, giving the impression he's further ahead of his mark than the narrow winning distance in the end suggests; tracked pace, tanked along, upsides approaching 2 out, led run-in, driven out; a speedy sort, he's likely to prove best kept to an easy 2m.

has never won off a mark this high but blinkers have worked the oracle of late, plus his stable is in excellent form, and he looks better than ever, needing to be to push a progressive rival all the way to the line; close up, went on fifth, joined approaching 2 out, edged out run-in, pulled clear of remainder; he's likely to continue in form but is at his very best away from testing ground so opportunities may well thin out.

ran well after 10 months off, more needed from his opening mark admittedly, but he's young/lightly raced and might sharpen up for this (very easy to back); patiently ridden, not always fluent, headway after 3 out, chased leaders next, went third run-in; more emphasis on stamina is likely to prove ideal and he remains with potential.

should strip fitter for the run after 9 months off and will benefit from a return to further, so all things considered this was quite an encouraging return, but he could do with a little respite from the handicapper; led, headed fifth, hit 3 out, ridden soon after, no extra run-in.

failed to build on the promise of last run, disappointing considering conditions looked in his favour; in touch, ridden before 2 out, weakening when blundered last.

Quite competitive fare for a mid-week card with a few unexposed and in-form sorts coming together; it was a soundly-run race without any hard-luck stories.
