back up in trip after 6 weeks off, hadn't produced the goods this term and wasn't the stable's first choice (according to the betting at least), but turned in a career-best effort to get off the mark for the season; held up, travelled well, took closer order 4 out, went on next, effort approaching 2 out, ridden out.

improved further in an attempt to follow up from 7 lb higher (though with a 7-lb claiming amateur in the plate) and would have finished closer still were it not for a late blunder; in rear, headway after 4 out, hampered next, ridden after, keeping on when mistake last, no further impression but pulled clear of rest.

well backed after 6 weeks off, couldn't build on his promising return but at least ran to a similar level; mid-field, lost ground after third, untidy fifth, short of room between 4 out and 3 out, effort home turn, one paced straight, not knocked about; he'd been off a long time before return and similar marks may not prove beyond him, providing he can build a head of steam, whilst a more galloping track might suit ideally.

went through the race well and shaped encouragingly over the 2f longer trip after 5 months off; mid-field, travelled fluently, close up 3 out, pushed along home turn, not fluent last, not unduly punished; he's interesting with this behind him - especially back over slightly shorter and on better ground - be it over hurdles again or back over fences.

back up in trip after 8 weeks off, is too high in the weights at present but seems to have gone off the boil in any case; prominent, slow first, upsides before 3 out, jumped badly left there, weakened from home turn.

ran even worse, unproven over this far but he seemed beaten by something other than the trip in all honesty; prominent, ridden after, weakened.

on first outing since leaving Alan King and in first-time tongue strap, was easy to back and seemed beaten by more than the absence (off 9 months), blowing up quickly; led, not fluent 4 out, ridden when joined before next, stopped quickly.

Solid handicap form, the winner coupling a slight fall in the weights with a best effort, and the three that followed him home all shaped with varying degrees of encouragement; they went a good pace.
