fitter for recent run, rewarded connections' much-tested patience as he recorded a first win since January 2014, taking advantage of being able to drop into this 0-140 company and jumping better than his nearest pursuers late on; in touch, blundered tenth (jumped well otherwise), went handy 4 out, jumped on next, in command soon after last, driven out; rising 13, he's no certainty to be in the same form next time.

claimer ridden, was easy to back but confirmed himself at least as good a chaser as hurdler, still not totally done with when a scruffy jump at the last sealed matters; mid-division, mistake tenth, untidy 3 out, effort after next, keeping on about a length down when untidy last, not quicken; open to further improvement, particularly back over further.

ran well after 8 months off and this should set him up for some bigger targets, probably back over further, a mistake at a key stage rather doing for him; patiently ridden, untidy tenth, headway on inner 3 out, yet to be asked for effort when blundered next, kept on, not unduly punished; he's open to further improvement.

possibly still needed this run given the way he failed to see out his race, and may well slip to a dangerous mark now; soon steadied, headway out wide 3 out, keeping on when not fluent next, no extra; he's one to bear in mind.

in first-time cheekpieces, shaped as if back in form but ended up making one error too many, a rather common theme for him; held up, blundered fourth, untidy sixth, crept closer 5 out, mistake next (crossed approaching fence), yet to really be asked for effort when clouted 3 out and all but unseated rider, no chance after.

back up in trip, ran a bit better than on his return, though again gave some cause for concern with the extent of his late capitulation; handy, bad mistake fifth, led approaching ninth, headed 3 out, weakened next, dropped away.

might have an issue to empty the way he did over this shorter trip, though he did at least impress in the jumping department this time, as he should do for one with his pedigree; raced wide, chased leaders, jumped soundly, faltered between 3 out and 2 out, eased off.

Not as competitive as it might have been, barely any of the 9 blemish free, though in fairness the winner did jump well bar one fence and that proved key late on; the pace was sound, though the bulk of the field was within a few lengths 3 out.
