back under a fully-fledged rider, maintained an unbeaten record over up fences and has quickly made up into a borderline smart novice, value a bit extra this time considering he conceded the runner-up a head start then found a turn of foot after the last; mid-division on outer, jumped soundly, travelled strongly, went prominent thirteenth, went second 3 out, shaken up last, quickened to lead run-in, had bit in hand; he's open to further improvement and isn't far off graded novice standard now.

fairly useful over hurdles, bettered that form on his chase/handicap debut, helped by having a fully-fledged rider in the saddle for the first time and showing a level of form that's sure to see him win races over fences; pressed leader, jumped left at times, travelled well, left upsides eleventh, went before 3 out, effort next, kept on, headed run-in.

A useful handicap and the first 2 deserve positive notes even if they were the only ones that gave their running; a steadyish gallop meant it wasn't the out-and-out slog that some races at this track have been in recent months.
