took his form figures this season to 4321 with a game display, again showing deep reserves of stamina and knuckling down determinedly to snatch it late; never far away, mistake ninth, sixteenth, ridden before 3 out, kept on well, edged ahead final 50 yds; he's yet to race on ground less testing than good to soft and, the way he shapes, he's far from sure to be as effective under less testing conditions.

put a poor effort behind him by running at least as well as when also runner-up here at the end of December; made running, pushed along after 3 out, untidy 2 out, again last, edged out final 50 yds, pulled clear of rest; he's yet to win over fences after several near-misses but there's not much wrong with his attitude.

back over fences, ran respectably without ever really threatening to be involved in the finish, just about doing enough to prove himself over long distances, however; dropped out, untidy first, hit fifteenth, hampered 5 out, one paced after 3 out.

ran what is now a typical race, flattering to deceive once more, lack of resolution rather than lack of stamina seemingly at the heart of it; held up, smooth headway from 5 out, shaken up after 3 out, mistake next, promised more than delivered; he's proving to be an ideal back-to-lay horse, not so much a back-to-win one.

As often happens in long-distance chases around here, this was dominated by a couple of prominent-racers, the favourite finding plenty to edge past the long-time leader late in the day.

JUBILEE EXPRESS (FR) took his form figures this season to 4321 with a game display, again showing deep reserves of stamina and knuckling down determinedly to snatch it late; never far away, mistake ninth, sixteenth, ridden before 3 out, kept on well, edged ahead final 50 yds; he's yet to race on ground less testing than good to soft and, the way he shapes, he's far from sure to be as effective under less testing conditions.

CONKWELL LEGEND back over fences, ran respectably without ever really threatening to be involved in the finish, just about doing enough to prove himself over long distances, however; dropped out, untidy first, hit fifteenth, hampered 5 out, one paced after 3 out.

O'CONNELL (IRE) ran what is now a typical race, flattering to deceive once more, lack of resolution rather than lack of stamina seemingly at the heart of it; held up, smooth headway from 5 out, shaken up after 3 out, mistake next, promised more than delivered; he's proving to be an ideal back-to-lay horse, not so much a back-to-win one.

ALI STAR BERT up in grade, left the impression he was still in top form until his race ended; mid-field, awkward fourth, yet to be asked for effort when unseated rider 5 out.

HOLD THE NOTE (IRE) continues out of sorts; close up, ridden seventeenth, dropped away after 5 out.

ATAKAN (FR) ran poorly in first-time tongue strap on second start back after a long absence; mid-field, lost place before fourteenth, well beaten home turn.

ROBYNDZONE (IRE) was unable to dominate and turned it in, clearly best treated with caution for all he knows how to win races when in the mood; mid-division, never travelling well, hit sixth, lost place, behind when pulled up before tenth.
