was a big price considering he already had a pattern win to his name and he fully confirmed his Ascot win on this very different track, an absolute credit to connections given the progress he has made over the last few months; patiently ridden, travelled well, headway from 2f out, edged ahead inside final 100 yds, just held on; despite winning 2 of the major trials for it, he's ineligible for the Commonwealth Cup being a gelding and, while the race has significance in finding future stallions, first and foremost it ought to be about finding the best racehorse.

lost his unbeaten record but ran right up to his best and emerges with his reputation intact, going down on the nod faced with very different conditions to those previously encountered; mid-field, headway from halfway, ridden 2f out, challenged inside final 1f, ran on, just failed; he's obviously a serious contender for Royal Ascot, not having the winner to worry about there either.

might not have grown much since last year, but she got her career firmly back on track with a run under her belt, handling conditions well; mid-division, effort over 2f out, kept on; she's shaped as if she should prove effective at 7f and, more settled than last year, will be worth trying at the trip again.

had a bit to find at this level, her win last time in a lower grade against her own sex, and she ran her best race, the emphasis on stamina at this trip in her favour; held up, ridden over 2f out, ran on.

was the only one of these to come here without a run this season and shaped promisingly returning from 8 months off, seemingly just in need of the run, it still not out of the question he'll progress into the pattern sprinter he looked when winning his first 2 starts last year; chased leaders, travelled well, upsides over 1f out, weakened final 100 yds; he remains with potential, quotes of 25/1 for the Commonwealth Cup making some appeal for a yard that won the race in 2019 with Advertise.

A race that has definitely benefited from the upgrading of the 3-y-o sprint programme; this looks an up-to-scratch running, the first 2 pulling a little way clear and Rohaan following up his win in the Pavilion Stakes to edge out the hitherto unbeaten Dragon Symbol; though the first 2 came from the 2 highest stalls, the draw had little significance, the third challenging on the far flank.

ROHAAN (IRE) was a big price considering he already had a pattern win to his name and he fully confirmed his Ascot win on this very different track, an absolute credit to connections given the progress he has made over the last few months; patiently ridden, travelled well, headway from 2f out, edged ahead inside final 100 yds, just held on; despite winning 2 of the major trials for it, he's ineligible for the Commonwealth Cup being a gelding and, while the race has significance in finding future stallions, first and foremost it ought to be about finding the best racehorse.
