will be more ready and able for his next try in a Group 1, though it was the Guineas and the Commonwealth Cup when previously at that level, elite races over different trips to that at which he's made his name, all the more this year, 2 from 2, but there's added hope - now he's more mature and less headstrong - he'll see out a mile if and when required; he's a natural front-runner, sometimes an advantage, as seemed the case here, but it was still a big effort to turn away first Tupi and then Breton Rock in the course of the straight, before digging deeper to hold off Convey in the driving finish; eyes are on overseas prizes by all accounts, in part as there's no Group 1s in Britain over his specialist distance.

has taken a while, with some fragility and frustration along the way, but he's really coming good now, showing his truer Group-class colours, and his last 2 seconds could easily have been firsts under slightly different cirumstances, the cheekpieces (or the one cheekpiece as he wears) doing the trick; Home of The Brave had an edge on him regards both position and experience, more streetwise, especially in this company, and Convey did well to challenge in the last 100 yds, after worked off the rail, plus he's probably more of a miler, at the least; if his temperament holds he could shine in the second half of the season.

had looked better than ever reappearing, and those impressions still stand, at home in this higher class but not seen to full effect, dancing to the winner's tune, the uneven gallop less favourable to him, hence things got tight for him up the inner at a crucial stage, unable to open up fully, his placing just a taster for what he may yet do at this level.

vulnerable to the younger legs, unless the mud is flying, and made a good fist of this considering the drying conditions, still speedy and able enough to put it to Home of The Brave over 1f out, a fast-forward move that caught up with him in the last 100 yds.

still capable of the odd smart effort in a big handicap but pattern company seems beyond his means nowadays, no threat here, yet running about as well as he can, lacking the gears to get any closer from off the pace.

had to snatch up over 1f out, but only hastening the inevitable, looked to have done his running by then, free in early stages and pressing Home of The Brave over 2f out; he's more a listed horse (at least for win purposes), catching plenty cold when chasing home Magical Memory in the Abernant.

further behind Home of The Brave than at Leicester, primarily as the ground wasn't the same here, all important to him, though even when it's soft there's a doubt as to whether he's pattern class these days; held up, never involved.

alarm bells sounding after this, another laboured effort and all the more difficult to defend than his reappearance at Sandown, just looking a shadow of what he was last year, no motivation to make any inroads from the back.

Non Runners: WINDFAST (IRE), JOHNNY BARNES (IRE). Race Distance Adjustment: +51 yds

Winning Owner: Godolphin

Time: 1m 28.77s Closing Sectional: (3.00f): 34.75s (109.5%)

A strong renewal, more like Group 2 standard at the top end, the first 3 on their way there, the winner the most favoured of them in terms of the tactical nuances of the race, making the running, Convey charging too late and So Beloved briefly boxed in, not to take anything away from Home of The Brave who'd already seen off 2 challengers before then.

HOME OF THE BRAVE (IRE) will be more ready and able for his next try in a Group 1, though it was the Guineas and the Commonwealth Cup when previously at that level, elite races over different trips to that at which he's made his name, all the more this year, 2 from 2, but there's added hope - now he's more mature and less headstrong - he'll see out a mile if and when required; he's a natural front-runner, sometimes an advantage, as seemed the case here, but it was still a big effort to turn away first Tupi and then Breton Rock in the course of the straight, before digging deeper to hold off Convey in the driving finish; eyes are on overseas prizes by all accounts, in part as there's no Group 1s in Britain over his specialist distance.
