looked on a good mark for his handicap debut and justified strong market support, impressing with how strongly he travelled through the race; close up, led 2f out, made rest, ridden out; he'll stay 1¼m and will go on improving, a 4 lb/5 lb rise in his mark unlikely to stop him winning again.

had the headgear on for the first time this season, presumably in a bid to sharpen him up at a trip much shorter than he usually races at, but did himself no favours with a very slow start, not discredited in the circumstances; very slowly away, in rear, switched over 2f out, never on terms.

who was easy to back, was a bit too keen on the softest ground he’s encountered and dropped out tamely; took keen hold, led after 1f, headed 2f out, weakened final 1f; he looks to have been handed a stiffish mark but may yet do better back under quicker conditions.
