looks to be coming to the boil, finding only a class dropper too good, though the fact that he's never won a handicap tempers enthusiasm a little; chased leaders, effort over 2f out, took second final 100 yds, stayed on.

A fairly useful handicap in the main but the class-dropping winner is a bit better than that and found this company liberating; the field raced as one group down the middle but the action was more towards the near side of it.

ILLUSIONIST (GER) back up in trip, took advantage of a drop in the weights, finding things much easier dropped in grade for a first handicap win and clearly having no issue with the blinkers this time; in touch, travelled fluently, headway over 2f out, led around 1f out, always holding on.

CALL ME GINGER looks to be coming to the boil, finding only a class dropper too good, though the fact that he's never won a handicap tempers enthusiasm a little; chased leaders, effort over 2f out, took second final 100 yds, stayed on.

LADY NECTAR (IRE) remains in good form 6 weeks on from her winning reappearance; held up, not clear run under 2f out, headway entering final 1f, ran on.

GEORGE BOWEN (IRE) again ran creditably, a little away from the other principals; held up, headway on far flank under 2f out, ran on.

TRUE BLUE MOON (IRE) strong in the betting, couldn't quite repeat his winning performance from last time; in touch, effort over 2f out, not quicken final 1f.

BLACK FRIDAY had every chance but couldn't build on the promise of his reappearance, the return to less testing ground not in his favour; prominent, effort over 2f out, not quicken soon after, stayed on again without much room close home.

ROYAL ADVICE (IRE) wasn't seen to best effect switched to turf bidding for a hat-trick; awkward leaving stalls and bumped, in rear, pushed along around 2f out, switched over 1f out, never landed a blow but not unduly punished.

KRAKEN POWER (IRE) easy to back near the off, found it hard trying to boss a field of experienced handicappers, though he didn't fare as badly as his finishing position might suggest; forced pace, headed when hung right around 1f out, faded late on.

AFTER JOHN looked rusty after 8 months off; dwelt, raced well off the pace, never really involved but starting to keep on when no room last ½f.
