The last 2 winners of this have gone on to contest the Irish Derby, Lone Eagle going down only narrowly to Hurricane Lane at the Curragh in 2021, and this year's winner - a half-brother to last year's victor Lionel - could well be classic bound himself, with a path to the St Leger surely on the cards; the pace was fair and the first 2, both on the back of just one previous start, will likely prove themselves further ahead of the rest in time.

GREGORY maintained his unbeaten record impressively in the end, clearly still green but really motoring late, and there still looks to be plenty more to come, either the Queen's Vase or the Bahrain Trophy the likely next step, at this stage looking a fine St Leger prospect; mid-field, effort when ran green under 3f out, headway to lead over 1f out, kept on well and well on top finish; has the scope for a lot better still.

KLONDIKE improved on debut form, still green and this highly likely to aid his education, with pattern-race aspirations still very much on the table, that he handled this much firmer ground clearly a positive; in touch, ran green over 2f out and took a while to pick a route past the leader, kept on well final 1f, finished with running left; likely to progress further, not least as he goes up in trip (will be suited by 1½m and even 1¾m).

HADRIANUS (IRE) matched his Epsom form this time, clearly a pretty tough individual to bounce back from a hard race in the Chester Vase just over a fortnight earlier, and it bears repeating that 1½m - and probably even further - should suit; led, kicked on under 3f out, headed over 1f out, not quicken late on.

GOLDENSTATEWARRIOR (IRE) ran to a similar level to last time, seemingly not good enough to make a telling impact, though it's still early days; held up, effort over 3f out, edged right inside final 1f, one paced.

TEMPERED SOUL couldn't make the jump up in grade, though this was his third run of the month and he didn't look completely at home on the track, while he still has the handicap route to explore; waited with, switched over 2f out, headway soon after, edged right inside final 1f, not knocked about, not sustain effort; remains capable of better.

GALACTIC JACK (IRE) in first-time tongue strap having made a noise at Chester, again came up short, a venture into handicaps probably more realistic now; chased leader, hung left, left behind 2f out.
