well backed, left his chasing debut form behind 6 weeks on, making short work of some frankly less interesting sorts (not at all hard pressed to reverse form with Black Kalanisi, for instance); jumped soundly in main, settled in touch, good progress 4 out, loomed up home turn, jumped on 3 out, asserted before last, well clear run-in; will go on improving for a while, as he did over hurdles.

took a step back in the right direction, giving a plainly well-in rival most to think about; led until before sixth, led again 5 out, ridden when joined home turn, left behind by winner from 3 out.

had missed another 7 weeks but probably ran near his best again; steadied at the start, steady headway from 5 out, pushed along home turn, no further impression.

possibly failed to stay, though he looked no better than third best for a long way regardless; pressed leader until third, close up after, led briefly tenth, not fluent 4 out, left behind from next, tied up run-in.

ran no better than on his very belated return; pecked first, off pace, lost touch before 4 out, later said to have been suffering from a high heart rate and the rider banned for 5 days for completing on a horse he should have pulled up.

has been most disappointing for some time, no fitness excuses here; patiently ridden, jumped tentatively, reminders soon after sixth, struggling some way out.

This was weak for the grade but the winner, a progressive hurdler last season, would have taken something better so dominant did he prove on only his second start over fences.

EARTH MOOR (IRE) well backed, left his chasing debut form behind 6 weeks on, making short work of some frankly less interesting sorts (not at all hard pressed to reverse form with Black Kalanisi, for instance); jumped soundly in main, settled in touch, good progress 4 out, loomed up home turn, jumped on 3 out, asserted before last, well clear run-in; will go on improving for a while, as he did over hurdles.
