Plenty still looked in with a chance 3 out but the trio that dominated the market in this novice soon put the rest away and they sorted themselves out quickly in the straight, too.

TARADA after 7 weeks off, showed improved form to get off the mark despite still showing obvious signs of inexperience; mid-field, close up 3 out, effort next, led last, hung right soon after, asserted quickly; will go on improving, especially when upped in trip.

ASHUTOR (FR) upped in trip, improved a bit on what he showed on debut in this sphere, though he just seemed to be doing a bit too much, with his jockey trying to restrain him; led, not settle fully, ridden 2 out, headed when not fluent last, held soon after; open to further progress.

ZAFAR (GER) taking on his elders for the first time, shaped better than the distance beaten suggests after 6 weeks off; mid-division, travelled well, headway early final circuit, pressed leader 3 out, driven entering straight, held soon after 2 out; remains open to improvement.

SHANNON HILL failed to see things out having been lit up (despite a first-time hood) after 3 months off; held up, took strong hold, took closer order early final circuit, effort after 3 out, weakened.

BLACK CENTAUR (IRE) is clearly still learning; raced wide, prominent, effort after 3 out, ran green, weakened; now qualified for a handicap mark.

COLONEL KEATING (IRE) seemed unsuited by the drop in trip after 8 weeks off; in rear, mistake second, labouring before 4 out, plugged on straight; now qualified for handicaps.

HELFORD RIVER made himself eligible for a mark after 6 weeks off, and he should begin life in handicaps from a very low base; mid-field, dropped away after 3 out.

GRANGE RANGER (IRE) in first-time tongue strap, failed to repeat first effort; prominent, untidy sixth, weakened home turn.

FREE TRAVEL (IRE) is yet to show any form of note; mid-field, pecked first, struggling before 4 out.

EOS (FR) fared no better after 11 weeks off; prominent, ridden before 3 out, weakened.

ROYAL CONCORDE (IRE) after 7 weeks off, looks of little account; mid-division, dropped away after 3 out.

LONG RIVER DANCER was already beaten when he came down on a bend after 7 weeks off; mid-division, not fluent sixth, struggling after, fell early final circuit.
