was at least as good as ever as he resumed winning ways, a first-time visor perking him up following a lifeless effort at Chepstow the time before; close up, led passing 3 out, stayed on well; he didn't cope with the Welsh National after getting hampered at the start but is well worth another go at long distances after this show of stamina.

had winning run ended from 10 lb higher than at Sandown, going with typical zest only to succumb to a strong stayer in a sapping finish; led, jumped left, shaken up usual 4 out, headed passing 3 out, no extra; he's still lightly raced and has more wins in him, while he'll perhaps prove best going the other way around now he's in useful company.

after 12 weeks off, failed to complete; in touch, fell heavily usual 5 out, too far out to suggest outcome but did look full of running at the time; he's well handicapped but his overall record (expensive to follow) suggests there may be a fault or 2 in his make-up.

Only 2 were still in it turning for home, and the winner outstayed the favourite in a typical slow-motion Exeter finish.
