followed up from last time and improved on the jumping front, probably not needing to be at his best as he essentially took advantage of mistakes from the other 2, but he looked the most likely winner from a long way out and put in a professional performance; tracked pace, jumped better than rivals, travelled well, left in front briefly sixth, led again 2 out, in command last and was just kept up to work; this ought to aid his development as a chaser and he remains with potential.

showed a tendency to jump left at times even on left-handed tracks last season and simply didn't act going this way around over fences for the first time, not disgraced under the circumstances given how much ground he gave away at the fences; jumped markedly left, close up, led after second, headed when blundered sixth, led again soon after, headed again 2 out, one paced; he'll surely be back left-handed next time and could be the sort for one of the big 2m handicaps.

back over fences, was badly let down by his jumping; led until second where made a mistake, remained prominent but blundered fourth, lost place after next and continued to jump none too fluently, well beaten before 4 out.

With a couple of smart sorts taking each other on this looked quite an interesting contest even with only 3 of them, but it was a race littered by errors behind the winner and exactly what the bare form on the day is worth is hard to ascertain.
