is a pattern performer for sure and had far too much quality for some rather more exposed rivals as he took his career record to 4 wins from 5 starts back from 6 months off, at no stage looked like he wasn't going to justify skinny odds for a race of this nature, setting a sound pace and running on strongly, value for another length on top; the Group 2 Mile at Sandown is an obvious next port of call and there's every reason to think he can take a rise in grade in his stride, with more improvement to come.

claimer ridden, has more to do from his mark after a profitable time in Dubai but ran well back on home soil, more so considering things didn't really go his way after an uncharacteristically slow start; awkward leaving stalls, raced off the pace, headway out wide over 1f out, ran on, clearly benefiting from the step back up in trip.

Auxerre's profile made him stand out in a Lincoln field otherwise largely populated with exposed handicappers and the way he justfied short odds - dominating from start to finish up the centre of the track - gives strong credence to the idea that he'll surpass Addeybb as the best recent winner of this race, the profiles of the next few home giving the form a solid look, allowing that lack of fitness is always an issue for some at this time of year.

AUXERRE (IRE) is a pattern performer for sure and had far too much quality for some rather more exposed rivals as he took his career record to 4 wins from 5 starts back from 6 months off, at no stage looked like he wasn't going to justify skinny odds for a race of this nature, setting a sound pace and running on strongly, value for another length on top; the Group 2 Mile at Sandown is an obvious next port of call and there's every reason to think he can take a rise in grade in his stride, with more improvement to come.

KYNREN (IRE) turned in another splendid big-field handicap run back from 5 months off, beating all bar a group horse; in touch, shaken up over 2f out, took second 1f out, stayed on; he deserves to win one of these and will surely keep giving it his best shot.

BREDEN (IRE) ran another cracker in a tougher contest back on turf, no surprise a race like this suited him given his strong-travelling style; in touch, bumped inside first 1f, chased leaders over 1f out, ran on; he's sometimes underestimated because of his age/stable but on the whole he's a likeable type.

BERINGER is on a good mark judged on the pick of his 3-y-o form and shaped encouragingly after 6 months off, making a big move into contention from well back, showing enough pace to think he's well worth persevering with in big-field handicaps at this trip; raced well off the pace, travelled well, bumped early, good headway out wide over 1f out, ran on.

RIPP ORF (IRE) shaped as if retaining all ability after 5 months off and should be set for another good season in top handicaps, the Victoria Cup (won the race last year and goes very well at Ascot) probably next; held up, headway over 1f out, ran on.

ANOTHER BATT (IRE) claimer ridden, has more to do from his mark after a profitable time in Dubai but ran well back on home soil, more so considering things didn't really go his way after an uncharacteristically slow start; awkward leaving stalls, raced off the pace, headway out wide over 1f out, ran on, clearly benefiting from the step back up in trip.

ZWAYYAN back on turf, shaped as if still in good form but never looked like following up his trial win under a 5-lb penalty; mid-field, headway out wide under 2f out, one paced.

THIRD TIME LUCKY (IRE) back on turf, probably remains in form; held up, headway over 1f out, never nearer; he's still a fair way above his last winning mark, when also ridden by a good 7-lb claimer.

WAHASH (IRE) wasn't disgraced, seemed beaten on merit; in touch, effort 2f out, no extra final 1f.

WAARIF (IRE) shaped as if better for the run after 5 months off, going on at the finish without having too hard a race; raced off the pace, met some trouble under 2f out, never involved.

SILVER QUARTZ back on turf, ran okay up to a point but again didn't see things out; pressed leader, ridden over 2f out, faded final 1f.

RAYDIANCE minus headgear, probably needed the run after 5 months off, like most from his yard do, having been gelded since last seen; in touch, shuffled back 2f out, no chance after; he struggled last year but his mark is coming down and there's time yet for him to get his career back on track.

GREAT PROSPECTOR (IRE) was below form after 4 months off; held up, ridden over 2f out, made little impression; he's been more miss than hit overall.

VENTURA KNIGHT (IRE) back on turf, was below form, adding to an inconsistent record; mid-field, lost place over 2f out; he's done his winning in considerably weaker races.

MASHAM STAR (IRE) claimer ridden, back on turf, ran poorly, his mark too high but not the only issue; close up, ridden over 2f out, weakened.

AQUARIUM back on turf, was well held; never on terms.

HUMBERT (IRE) second in the Spring Mile in 2017, ran poorly on first outing since leaving Hugo Palmer after 5 months off; close up, ridden under 3f out, weakened over 1f out; his best turf form is on softer ground.

SALTONSTALL ran poorly on first outing since leaving M. Halford after 7 months off; close up, ridden 3f out, weakened.
