without the usual headgear, turned in his best effort of the season having been claimed out of Hugo Palmer's yard after Wolverhampton, seeming suited by the step up to 1m; waited with down centre, travelled well, good headway over 2f out, led well inside final 1f, stayed on well; he's joined a yard with an excellent record at revitalising horses picked up from elsewhere and he'll remain of some interest, a handicap winner from a mark of 75 as a 2-y-o and previously at his best on the all-weather.

Non Runners: LAQAB (IRE), TAVENER, FINK HILL (USA).

Winning Owner: Mr Spencer Coomes

Time: 1m 40.88s Closing Sectional: (3.00f): 38.45s (98.4%)

A minor event for retired jockeys and it's perhaps no coincidence that, not for the first time in this race, it was a couple of the jockeys that had more recently hung up their boots that came to the fore, fitness amongst the riders probably playing a part; the strongest pace was down the centre and the first 3 all raced there with the likes of Zeshov and Fleetfoot Jack trying to come from too far back nearer the stand side.

CENTRAL CITY (IRE) without the usual headgear, turned in his best effort of the season having been claimed out of Hugo Palmer's yard after Wolverhampton, seeming suited by the step up to 1m; waited with down centre, travelled well, good headway over 2f out, led well inside final 1f, stayed on well; he's joined a yard with an excellent record at revitalising horses picked up from elsewhere and he'll remain of some interest, a handicap winner from a mark of 75 as a 2-y-o and previously at his best on the all-weather.

DETACHMENT ran up to his best, bettering last year's fourth in the same race; tracked pace down centre, travelled well, led 3f out, kicked on, worn down well inside final 1f, pulled clear of remainder.

ASSIMILE (IRE) took a step back in the right direction after a 7-week break; raced centre, mid-division, chased leaders over 2f out, edged left approaching final 1f, one paced.

ZESHOV (IRE) left the impression that he should have finished closer, hampered and caught away from the action; raced stand side, held up, travelled better than most, headway when not clear run over 2f out, still plenty to do over 1f out, ran on, left poorly placed.

FLEETFOOT JACK (IRE) after 12 weeks off, shaped better than the bare result; raced stand side, in rear, effort when not clear run over 2f out, headway under pressure approaching final 1f, kept on, left poorly placed.

YOUNG JOHN (IRE) wasn't seen to best effect under one of the older riders; dwelt, pulled way into prominent position halfway, weakened approaching final 1f.

CADEAU MAGNIFIQUE extended his long losing run; mid-division, driven over 2f out, one paced, made little impression.

CHEEKY RASCAL (IRE) was unsuited by the drop in trip, outpaced over 2f out, dropping away, but he may just not be firing either, below form the last twice too.

GINGER JACK continues to disappoint; raced off the pace, went with little fluency, merely passed beaten horses.

TRAVELLER (FR) shaped as if better for the run after 12 weeks off; chased leaders, pushed along 3f out, no extra final 1f.

VENTURA GOLD (IRE) wasn't on a going day; prominent, lost place 2f out, weakened.

PLACEBO EFFECT (IRE) ran one of this season's lesser races; chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out.

LADY ALAVESA in first-time hood after 7 weeks off, had little go right in the race; dropped out, effort when denied a run around 2f out, made no impression but wasn't knocked about.

LUNA BEAR is proving more miss than hit; led until 3f out, weakened.

HAMMER GUN (USA) was well held on a rare turf outing, never on terms after a slow start.

MUDAWWAN (IRE) ran poorly and is up and down generally; raced stand side, held up, effort 3f out, weakened over 1f out.
