made rapid strides through the handicapping ranks last year, bar an excusable blip on his final start, and barely needed to improve after 5 months off to make a successful transition to listed class, justifying market support in the process; led, went with zest, shaken up under 2f out, forged clear for a ready success; the Lockinge is reportedly under consideration as his next target, and though he'll need to improve a chunk to feature in that contest, he's low mileage for his age and a nice sort physically, so just the type who will go on improving throughout the year and make his mark in group races.

proved more miss than hit during his spell in Dubai, but looked at least as good as ever here, showing he is still effective at 1m, at least in testing conditions; close up, shaken up over 2f out, every chance 1f out, kept on; smart sort who should continue to pay his way at this level.

fit from a spell in Dubai and without the headgear this time, ran respectably; in touch, ridden under 3f out, kept on final 1f; proved consistent last year and should remain competitive.

back up in grade/back on turf, ran respectably on the softest ground he's faced, but the evidence is mounting that he's not quite up to winning at this level; close up, ridden 3f out, not quicken.

was having just his second start since 2016, and first since leaving John Gosden, and finished well beaten after 12 months off; slowly into stride, in rear, headway under pressure around 2f out, carried head bit awkwardly, weakened; something to prove on the back of this.

easy to back and ran no sort of race after 6 months off, the very testing ground presumably to blame; mid-division, folded tamely 2f out, eased off; was a model of consistency last year so type to bounce back quickly under more suitable conditions.

A couple of these failed to fire, conditions presumably to blame, but Zabeel Prince still rates as an above-average winner of this listed race, readily seeing off some smart rivals having set a fair pace.
