has matured and progressed throughout the season and this truly-run race got the very best out of him, stamina and a cracking attitude his biggest assets, and both were in evidence as he got up late to cause a surprise; held up, headway out wide 3f out, chased leaders 2f out, hung left in behind leaders but soon gathered up again and kept on well inside final 1f, led close home; he may not be the classiest of St Leger winners but is a really smart, likeable and honest stayer who ought to be a serious contender for the Cup races in his 4-y-o season.

has thrived in this second half of the season, climbing the ranks with listed and Group 3 wins on his last 2 starts, getting better with each step up in trip, and he carried on that theme of progress over almost 3f further here, chinned on the line in an admittedly below-par Group 1; chased leaders, shaken up 3f out, challenged soon after, edged ahead entering final 1f, kept on well and gave his all but was collared close home by one delivered later; he's genuine and will continue to run well.

unsurprisingly had no problem with the 2f longer trip, suited by it if anything, and he ran as well as when second to Idaho at York last month; mid-division, good headway 3f out, led over 2f out, joined soon after, edged out entering final 1f, battled well and looked willing as he rallied; he's matured and looked more genuine/straightforward as the season's gone on and he'll stay at least 2m if that's a route connections go down in 2017.

stood out on form coming into the race and, having taken a strong hold in mid-division, he was still going well and starting to make a move when stumbling and unseating his rider over 3f out; he came down before his stamina was tested but his future may lie back at shorter trips, anyway.

Idaho stood out as the standard-setter for this year's St Leger, the only genuine, proven Group 1 performer amongst the 9 that lined up, and with him unseating Seamie Heffernan in a dramatic incident over 3f out, just as things were taking shape, the race was essentially robbed of its most talented horse; as such, it took less winning, and as far as the standard of form is concerned does rate below the St Leger average and some way below the usual standard for a Group 1 in Britain; it was a thrilling spectacle, however, with 3 of them fighting out a tight finish after Muntahaa had set a fairly strong pace and ensured it was a Leger that was a thorough stamina test, as this race is designed to be.
