brought the curtain down on a fine career with another Group 1 success, his third in total and first at this trip, having no problem with a mile faced with speed-favouring conditions (firm ground and a sharp track); kept handier than usual from good draw (prominent), shaken up 2f out, got gap entering straight, produced to lead final 1f.

is a model of consistency, placed all starts this year and finding only a European raider too good on this occasion; well drawn, led, shaken up over 2f out, headed final 1f, had the run of the race.

ran up to best to make the frame in this contest for the second year running, doing well to get as close as he did on this occasion; poorly drawn, held up, kept on well from 2f out, never nearer, not ideally placed.

was further behind Space Blues than at Longchamp, but had a tricky draw and was a bit further back than ideal so emerges with credit, rounding off another fine campaign that's yielded a couple of wins and 2 runner-up finishes in Group 1 company; mid-field, headway 2f out, kept on; this confirms her effectiveness on firm ground, too.

after 8 weeks off, wasn't seen to best effect and is better judged on the improved form he showed last time; worst of draw, in rear, keeping on but held when short of room close home, had a hopeless task from position.

can have this run ignored, things going wrong from an early stage; hampered soon after start and shuffled back, off pace, never a threat but not unduly punished, had a hopeless task from position.

arrived on a roll and is better judged on that earlier form (beat Smooth Like Strait last time); hampered soon after start and shuffled back to rear, raced freely off pace, never dangerous, had a hopeless task from position.

All 13 ran.

Winning Owner: Godolphin

Time: 1m 36.66s Closing Sectional: (2.00f): 23.20s (104.2%)

Overrounds: Industry SP 120%, Betfair SP 0%

An ordinary renewal of the Mile which again lacked the cream of the European crop, especially as Master of The Seas was withdrawn having reared up in the stalls, but one that still went the way of the raiders, the other Godolphin runner Space Blues not needing to improve to see off a consistent American rival, taking his career earnings to just shy of £2 million in the process; unsurprisingly for this tight track, the draw and track position played its part, the first pair drawn in the 2 inside stalls and always well placed.

SPACE BLUES (IRE) brought the curtain down on a fine career with another Group 1 success, his third in total and first at this trip, having no problem with a mile faced with speed-favouring conditions (firm ground and a sharp track); kept handier than usual from good draw (prominent), shaken up 2f out, got gap entering straight, produced to lead final 1f.

SMOOTH LIKE STRAIT (USA) is a model of consistency, placed all starts this year and finding only a European raider too good on this occasion; well drawn, led, shaken up over 2f out, headed final 1f, had the run of the race.

IVAR (BRZ) ran up to best to make the frame in this contest for the second year running, doing well to get as close as he did on this occasion; poorly drawn, held up, kept on well from 2f out, never nearer, not ideally placed.
