The first real opportunity for 3-y-o fillies to take on their elders at 1¼m and for the first time since 2019 it was one of the classic generation that came out on top, the Oaks runner-up digging really deep to get the better of a protracted duel with last year's Fillies' & Mares' Stakes winner; this was a landmark victory for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore as it was their 150th Group 1 win together.

WHIRL (IRE) didn't need to improve to gain swift compensation for a narrow defeat in the Oaks, a well-judged ride and a really willing attitude proving decisive; made running, pushed along entering straight, tackled 2f out, headed briefly 1f out, rallied; a likeable type who remains unexposed at middle distances, she will continue to take plenty of beating wherever she turns up next, the Nassau perhaps more likely than the Irish Oaks given connections already have Minnie Hauk for the latter.

KALPANA sporting the colours of last year's winner, Bluestocking, ran at least as well as when placed in the Tattersalls Gold Cup here on return, the concession of 12 lb to a progressive 3-y-o just proving a bit beyond her; close up, loomed up early in straight, edged ahead briefly 1f out, no extra only late on; a return to 1½m is surely in the offing.

SURVIE (IRE) a rare runner on these shores for her connections and a first ever ride at this track for her illustrious jockey, ran right up to very best to get placed at this level for the second time; mid-division, ridden 2f out, third 1f out, kept on without troubling the first 2; will prove suited by a return to 1½m, with another crack at the Prix Vermeille likely to be on her agenda.

WEMIGHTAKEDLONGWAY (IRE) backed up her Oaks form under a change of tactics, a return to 1½m sure to suit; dropped out, pushed along entering straight, forced wide under 2f out, ran on late, never nearer; acts well on soft ground so it wouldn't be a surprise to see her do better still at some point.

JANCIS (IRE) ran creditably back up in trip, but had no excuses, this company just a bit too hot for her; held up, ridden entering straight, kept on, never landed a blow.

HIGHER LEAVES (IRE) fared no better than on reappearance, not up to this grade, but is at her best when allowed to dominate; tracked pace, pulled hard, weakened early in straight.

MAGICAL HOPE followed a good run with a below-par one, the drop in trip not to blame, her finishing effort a bit disappointing for one proven at further; mid-division, close up early in straight, third 2f out, effort flattened out.
