after 9 weeks off, is really starting to get the things of things now, improving another chunk as he provided his master trainer with a record nineteenth success in this race (one in which he regularly targets with his classic hopes), Innisfree always going comfortably enough around 4 lengths off the lead and showing he has fight to go with his class as he eventually got on top near the line, the runner-up not giving him an inch; chased leader, travelled fluently, challenged over 1f out, kept on well, edged ahead close home; he looks one well worth his place in the classic mix next season.

had progressed only gradually in his career before this but produced a different level of form asked a much bigger question in this grade, like last time allowed plenty of rope in front but going down fighting once the favourite came to his quarters, the pair burning off the rest; led, went with enthusiasm, tackled over 1f out, kept on well, edged out close home; attitude and talent in equal measure, he's more than worth his place in a classic trial to start next season.

was much improved from his debut, a fact made to look all the better given he isn't bred to come into his own until tackling middle-distances as a 3-y-o, and he looks one to be excited about for next season; in touch, ridden over 2f out, one paced, no match for principals; open to further improvement.

wasn't ready for this much stiffer task having left a good impression when winning on debut; dwelt, in touch, ridden 3f out, dropped away under 2f out; he remains with potential, his sights best lowered for the time being.

A contest that often throws up superstars with 2 of the last 3 winners going on to classic success, whilst last year's winner has landed 2 Group 1's this time around, and, although the pair who came clear in this renewal didn't produce the 'wow factor' needed to mark them out as being in quite the same league as that trio, they certainly have the potential to challenge at the top level next year.
