is back in the groove, following up a recent Tipperary win to bag this prize for the second year running (awarded it last year), and deserves some extra credit, digging deep having been carried left by the wayward Toscanini in the final 1f; close up, challenged 2f out, carried left, led under pressure inside final 100 yds, kept going well; the Renaissance Stakes back here next month is reportedly next on his agenda.

A strong renewal of this Group 2, Gordon Lord Byron needing to come back to something like his best to win it, though a prominent position was probably a help, none of those held up landing a telling blow.

GORDON LORD BYRON (IRE) is back in the groove, following up a recent Tipperary win to bag this prize for the second year running (awarded it last year), and deserves some extra credit, digging deep having been carried left by the wayward Toscanini in the final 1f; close up, challenged 2f out, carried left, led under pressure inside final 100 yds, kept going well; the Renaissance Stakes back here next month is reportedly next on his agenda.

SOVEREIGN DEBT (IRE) as consistent as they come, found only one too good for the fourth start in a row, but had no excuses this time; mid-division, ridden over 2f out, effort entering final 1f, kept on; likely to continue in form.

TOSCANINI (IRE) shaped as if still in good form, the return to 7f possibly just stretching him; forced pace, tackled over 1f out, hung left, no extra.

ADAAY (IRE) failed to back up dubious latest effort, merely closing up late, a more severe form of headgear perhaps required already; mid-division, labouring 2f out, kept on, never a threat.

FLIGHT RISK (IRE) back up in trip, is best forgiven the run; raced wide, mid-division, headway when badly hampered over 1f out, not recover; type to bounce back quickly.

CHEIKELJACK (FR) proved a let-down, the latest to let down the form of the Commonwealth Cup, the return to 7f not having the desired effect; chased leaders, effort 2f out, forced to switch, one paced.

DICK WHITTINGTON (IRE) ran poorly without any obvious excuses, not ideally placed the way things went but unable to make any inroads when asked for his effort; held up, one paced, never landed a blow.

ALPHONSUS back down in trip, without the headgear this time, ran no sort of race; soon detached, never on terms.

FINAL FRONTIER (IRE) went backwards from reappearance, plenty to prove all of a sudden; held up, driven 3f out, weakened.
