soundly beaten in Grade 1 company last time and retried in cheekpieces, capitalised on the drop in grade to record his first win in just over a year; mid-division, went handy early final circuit, led soon after 4 out, asserted between last 2, driven out; is probably best kept to this sort of level.

back down in trip, isn't the easiest to catch right and this wasn't one of his going days; close up, led from fourth, headed briefly eighth, headed again before 5 out, stopped quickly.

Not the strongest renewal of this Grade 2 and, with a few failing to fire it didn't take a great deal of winning, Alpha Des Obeaux nonetheless posting his best effort yet over fences to lead home a Gigginstown 1-2-3; the pace was fair.
