had looked a Group 1 winner in the making during a truncated 3-y-o campaign, though had to go abroad in the autumn last year to prove the point, winning the Canadian International at Woodbine, and under a 7-lb penalty for that success, showed improved form to make a successful reappearance, one that should set him up nicely for bigger targets ahead; mid-division, shaken up 2f out, led over 1f out, edged left, driven out.

ran to a only a similar level as to on his reappearance and, though not seen to best effect, it's possible he's not going to be quite the force this year that he has been in the past, long since on the brink in terms of his attitude; held up, short of room home turn, pushed along early in straight, ran on in typical ungainly fashion, conceded first run.

is a likeable type and ran creditably, but he's always likely to come up a little short in this sort of company; mid-field, ridden over 2f out, headway early in straight, kept on.

has form at this trip for all he usually races over shorter, but wasn't seen to best effect here, left with a lot to do, and the likelihood is that he remains in good form; dwelt, patiently ridden, took strong hold, pushed along home turn, ran on, nearest at the finish.

back on turf, wasn't disgraced in form terms, but the way he goes about things means he remains best treated with plenty of caution; chased leader, led home turn, hung left early in straight and carried head awkwardly, headed over 1f out, put up little fight.

One of the better recent renewals of the Huxley Stakes, certainly in the context of the winner, deserving to be credited with improvement for defying his Group 1 penalty, and he looks set for a good season; the pace was only fair, the winner rather getting first run on the second.

CANNOCK CHASE (USA) had looked a Group 1 winner in the making during a truncated 3-y-o campaign, though had to go abroad in the autumn last year to prove the point, winning the Canadian International at Woodbine, and under a 7-lb penalty for that success, showed improved form to make a successful reappearance, one that should set him up nicely for bigger targets ahead; mid-division, shaken up 2f out, led over 1f out, edged left, driven out.
