back down in trip, came second in this race last year and produced a career best to go one better this time around, though did so with the benefit of the run of the race; in rear, switched over 1f out, found plenty to lead inside final 1f, kept going well, suited by the strong pace.

ran respectably but the drop in trip didn't seem to be ideal, settling better and travelling as well as anything but just seeming to lack a change of gear under pressure; held up, travelled well, had to wait for gap 2f out, headway over 1f out, one paced; will be suited by return to 7f.

Intransigent is smart on his day and a strong pace saw him to best effect here, staying on strongly from the rear to go one better than he had in this race last year, and the placed horses give a solid enough look to the form.
