CALICO (GER) shaped well after 7 months off, potentially on a good mark on what he seemed likely to achieve in the Maghull and for a long way looking ahead of the handicapper, worn down only late on; disputed lead, went with zest, went on eighth, quickened clear after 3 out, shaken up after 2 out, kept on run-in, headed final 50 yds; likely to go well again.

WALK IN CLOVER (IRE) back in handicap company, ran up to her best, even if she spoilt her chance by hanging in the closing stages; dropped out, not settle fully, headway approaching last, hung left run-in, one paced late on.

PRINCE ESCALUS (IRE) ran much better than he had on his first 2 starts of the season, though without posing much of a threat; in touch, shaken up approaching 3 out, not quicken home turn, kept on run-in.

GUY (IRE) ran creditably, at least as well as last time, more patiently ridden than usual; held up, travelled well, not fluent 3 out, effort approaching straight, kept on run-in.

MADARA (FR) ridden much closer to the pace than on his British debut, ran respectably, though perhaps didn't finish his race as well as he might, given how he looked to be going 3 out; close up, travelled well, shaken up after 3 out, not quicken home turn, not fluent last, no extra.

COASTGUARD STATION (IRE) wasn't disgraced back over fences, though never really threatened; in rear, took keen hold, shaken up 3 out, plugged on straight.

DO YOUR JOB (IRE) back down in trip, fared no better than on his return, sharing the pacemaking with the runner-up but beaten coming down the hill; disputed lead until eighth, weakened after next.

GOLD DES BOIS (FR) was well held, tackling a stronger race than he'd been contesting; in touch, raced freely, shaken up before 3 out, weakened soon after.

BALLYBREEZE well supported on his first start since April and being given a breathing operation, is unexposed as a chaser but didn't get the chance to show what he could do; unseated rider first.

NO RISK DES FLOS (FR) ran no sort of race after 8 months off; held up, labouring eighth, tailed off 3 out, pulled up straight.
