had had another breathing operation since last seen and ran his rivals ragged, jumping for fun and with his former weak finish nowhere to be seen, only the fourth ever within hailing distance; led, jumped well, tanked along, in command after 3 out, had plenty in hand; he's likely to look very well-in if taking his chance under a penalty in the Silver Cup at Ascot next weekend, another race likely to show him to advantage.

has lots of solid handicap form to his name and he beat the rest a long way, though he was no match for the rejuvenated winner; raced off the pace, mistake fourteenth, effort 4 out, went third home turn, chased leader approaching last, kept on, no impression on winner.

down in grade and finally tried in a handicap, shaped as if retaining plenty of ability on first outing since leaving Nicky Henderson after 9 months off, the only one to make much of a fist of it with the winner, paying for that late on; disputed lead until third, remained prominent, pushed along before 4 out, weakened before 2 out, blundered last, finished tired; he may take a while to get over this, but he's got some potential off this sort of mark.
