A wide-open renewal of this long-established feature handicap; it was run at a sound pace, the 4 to make the frame having the race between them into the straight, though the winner looked very much the one to beat from before the turn, having to assert a second time after his rider lost his whip at the last.

WEST CORK making handicap debut, looked on a generous mark after 21 months off and barely had to improve to land this valuable prize, anothe example of his trainer's skill, further races of this type likely to be on the agenda, with the Betfair Exchange Hurdle the obvious next step; waited with, went with zest, headway fifth, loomed up 2 out, led before last, rider dropped whip there, challenged run-in, found extra.
