looked favourably handicapped on his third in the Mersey and took full advantage, not needing to improve in a lesser handicap than those he contested early in the year, but winning in a style that suggests there may yet be more to come; held up, travelled well, good progress before 3 out, close up entering straight, stayed on to lead final 1f, ran on.

A useful handicap, if not necessarily a deep one, and a good test under the conditions, the winner generously weighted on his form at Aintree and not needing to improve, the second running a race full of promise with a return to fences in mind.

GUARD YOUR DREAMS looked favourably handicapped on his third in the Mersey and took full advantage, not needing to improve in a lesser handicap than those he contested early in the year, but winning in a style that suggests there may yet be more to come; held up, travelled well, good progress before 3 out, close up entering straight, stayed on to lead final 1f, ran on.
