has made a solid start over fences and added to his Ascot success, not having been raised for that win, his jumping still not polished, either, though at least this showed he has no problem going left handed; waited with, not always fluent, mistake thirteenth, headway 3 out, led under pressure soon after next, always holding on; he's open to further improvement and will presumably be aimed at the novice handicap at the Festival, provided he's raised no more than 4 lb.

had been overfaced the last twice and ran right up to his best in a more suitable grade, making handicap debut, showing himself fully effective at the much longer trip, plenty to like about his performance all in all and likely to be a player in these types of races for a while; led, jumped fluently, went with zest, headed after 2 out, ridden, kept on run-in, held late on.

had been given a break since Newbury, subsequent events showing that run in a better light, and he confirmed the promise of his chasing debut at the second attempt, the prospect of more to come as he tackles longer trips; waited with, travelled well, headway before 3 out, ridden straight, challenged run-in, wandered late on, not quicken.

was better off back in handicap company and ran respectably, probably not ideally positioned as the race developed, either; held up, pushed along after 3 out, plugged on straight, made no impression.

wasn't really seen to much advantage switched to handicaps, difficult to come from the sort of position he was in, his first run over fences (behind the winner here) suggesting he's on a fair mark if everything clicks; in rear, hit eighth, pushed along twelfth, lost touch before 3 out, kept on straight, never on terms; remains with potential.

was well held, his jumping not standing up to the demands of the track, beaten well before stamina became an issue (should stay at least this far); not jump well, chased leader until fifth, lost place seventh, dropped away 3 out.

looked in good form but departed just too early to be confident where he would have finished, raised just 2 lb for last time and, in all probability, still on a good mark; in rear, yet to be asked for effort when hampered and fell 3 out.
