may not be the most reliable, this just his sixth win from 38 starts, but he makes it count when he is on a going day, adding a second big handicap victory to his win (at 33/1) in the 2015 Betfair Hurdle, nothing wrong with his attitude on this occasion; prominent, travelled well, led 3 out, ridden straight, held on gamely, all out; how he will go next time isn't easy to predict, but his effort here couldn't be faulted.

Non Runners: MYSTIFIABLE. Fences: 16. Race Distance Adjustment: +30 yds

Winning Owner: Mr J. D. Neild

Time: 5m 24.4s Closing Sectional: (3.75f): 61.00s (98.0%)

This wasn't a vintage running of one of the great handicaps of the NH season, too many not at their best, but it was a tremendous race to watch, fiercely contested and with a thrilling finish, jumping, stamina and attitude all key components in the outcome, the winner fully on his mettle - not always the case - while the placed horses would likely have threatened even more with better jumping, both probably of more interest than the winner another time.

SPLASH OF GINGE may not be the most reliable, this just his sixth win from 38 starts, but he makes it count when he is on a going day, adding a second big handicap victory to his win (at 33/1) in the 2015 Betfair Hurdle, nothing wrong with his attitude on this occasion; prominent, travelled well, led 3 out, ridden straight, held on gamely, all out; how he will go next time isn't easy to predict, but his effort here couldn't be faulted.

LE PREZIEN (FR) ran to his best, though he did a lot wrong and surely has a better performance in him if it all comes together; mid-division, jumped sketchily, blundered first, labouring 4 out, headway out wide on home turn, stuck to task run-in; he had no trouble with the return to this trip and, likely to stay further still, will continue to give good account.

BALLYALTON (IRE) back over fences, shaped as if retaining all his ability, the testing conditions perhaps stretching his stamina; held up, travelled well, headway 4 out, ridden straight, not quicken, no extra run-in.

ROMAIN DE SENAM (FR) ran respectably, a 6 lb higher mark in a stronger race on more testing ground reason enough why he wasn't quite up to the task; held up, travelled well, mistake eighth, good progress before 4 out, weakened home turn.

TULLY EAST (IRE) back at the scene of his finest hour, wasn't disgraced, possible not quite so effective on testing ground, hitting 2 out not helping; held up, travelled well, mistake eighth, steady headway 4 out, crept closer approaching straight, mistake 2 out, ridden after, no extra.

DOUBLE TREASURE had had his chance completely ruined by his win at the last meeting, his mark 22 lb higher than for his win at Worcester (raised 13 lb for last time), though he probably found the ground against him as well, never competitive; held up, mistake seventh, struggling when mistake tenth, plodded on.

VICONTE DU NOYER (FR) down markedly in trip, running in this in preference to the staying handicap he'd won on this card in 2016, was well held; raced off the pace, not fluent eighth, tailed off 3 out, hit last.
