has something to prove all of a sudden after this limp display back on all-weather in first-time cheekpieces; handy, pushed along over 3f out, carried head bit awkwardly, dropped away 2f out.

Very few got into this, reflecting concerns over the current form of some, but also a classy winner whose rider got the fractions spot on.

PETER THE GREAT in first-time blinkers, improved a little more, well suited by front-running around a track like this; blindfold removed fractionally late, soon led, took keen hold, quickened over 3f out, in command over 1f out, kept up to work.

ACE ROTHSTEIN (USA) without the headgear worn on his final start in Bahrain, looked rusty after 4 months off; mid-field, not quicken under 3f out, left behind.

DIDEROT is highly strung and was no less keen for the removal of the hood, though didn't appear anywhere near top form regardless of the trip; held up, raced freely, left behind over 2f out.
