improved further to resume winning ways back on all-weather after 9 days off, seen to maximum effect in that he got cover and was never far from a steady pace, while the promising runner-up wasn't so professional nor well placed, but the pair of them came nicely clear and are smart sorts; in touch, travelled smoothly, challenged 2f out, stayed on to lead final 1f, dug deep under pressure, well positioned.

found winning run ended making handicap debut over 2f longer trip, a shade disappointing on the face of it given he looked a really exciting prospect on his first 2 starts, but this defeat owed as much to a lack of experience and a muddling contest as anything else, not getting cover out wide but still coming clear with an experienced handicapper, little doubting he'll still be able to make his way into much better contests than this in time given his top connections; awkward leaving stalls, raced wide, in touch, raced freely, led 2f out, headed final 1f, stuck to task, pulled clear of remainder; will go on improving and remains one to follow.

back on all-weather, wasn't in quite the same form as last time after 9 days off, but probably had plenty on with the smart sorts that came clear; led, ridden home turn, headed 2f out, weakened final 1f.

in first-time visor, is best not judged on this run; held up, headway 2f out, edged left, not quicken, would have benefited from a stronger gallop.

A smart handicap which looked all about Dubai Warrior beforehand but Desert Fire's experience proved decisive in the end, the odds-on favourite never really settling have been trapped out wide in a steadily-run affair, the first 2 still able to pull clear though, both looking better than this grade.
