bounced back to form, the drop back in grade (this effectively a 0-130 after the non-runners) probably key, while the fact it wasn't a thorough test at the trip seemed in his favour too, though he did have something to spare, his rider not needing to resort to his whip at any stage; disputed lead until eleventh, pushed along end of back straight, went on passing last, pushed out.

well backed, progressed again after 7 weeks off, despite the race probably not playing to his strengths as much as the Lincolnshire National had, more to offer back over a bit further in particular; chased leaders, close up home turn, every chance until final 1f.

what should have been the final fence in the home straight was omitted due to being damaged

Certainly not the deepest of 0-140 events, particularly after the non-runners, and 4 of the 5 that remained still held claims over the usual third last, reflecting a pace that hadn't been strong, which suited the winner more than the runner-up.

DIDERO VALLIS (FR) bounced back to form, the drop back in grade (this effectively a 0-130 after the non-runners) probably key, while the fact it wasn't a thorough test at the trip seemed in his favour too, though he did have something to spare, his rider not needing to resort to his whip at any stage; disputed lead until eleventh, pushed along end of back straight, went on passing last, pushed out.
