Another chase on the card run at an unrelenting gallop and stamina was very much tested, the runner-up very strong in that particular suit and looking like he would grind his way to success on the run-in, but Tile Tapper had saved a bit and had just enough left to repel him.

TILE TAPPER got off the mark for the season having scored at the same stage last year; held up, hit twelfth, steady headway from 5 out, edged ahead last, tackled inside final 1f, had been idling a bit and pulled out a bit more when challenged.

DESTINY IS ALL (IRE) ended up running well in first-time cheekpieces after 9 weeks off once his stamina was brought into play; raced well off the pace, off the bridle long way out, headway from 5 out, kept on well between last 2, challenged final 1f, narrowly held near finish.

KEY COMMANDER (IRE) confirmed return to form, shaping better than the distance he was beaten in the end; close up, jumped on tenth, untidy twelfth, pressed on next, reduced advantage 2 out, headed last, no extra, ridden a shade too aggressively.

JUGE ET PARTI (FR) without the headgear this time, stopped the slide to a certain extent but seemingly needs more respite from the assessor; mid-division, headway approaching 3 out, untidy there, not sustain effort.

MAROWN (IRE) ended up well held once more in first-time cheekpieces after 7 weeks off, but did shape better than the distance beaten suggests; chased leaders, close up ninth, ridden 5 out, weakening when untidy 2 out, raced closer to pace than ideal.

MORNING SPIRIT (IRE) in first-time blinkers, followed a good run with a poor one; led until tenth, weakened from 5 out.

ENQARDE (FR) after 8 weeks off, ran even worse; tracked pace, jumped left, left behind from eleventh; he's a hard horse to enthuse about at present.

POST CHAISE (IRE) found his progress hitting a skidding halt upped markedly in grade, soon done with after walloping one in the back straight; in rear, clouted thirteenth, lost touch soon after, eased, pulled up 3 out.

DOG OF WAR (FR) was turned out quickly on the back of his reappearance and, very easy to back, went backwards from that; raced off the pace, pecked fifth, lost touch early final circuit.

LORD ROCO had missed 9 weeks and found a well-run race exposing any lack of fitness; mid-field, effort after 5 out, bit awkward next, faltered and pulled up after barely clambering over 2 out.

WOWSHAM (IRE) in first-time cheekpieces, ran too badly to be true, not the only one from the Newcastle race to do so in this; raced off the pace, went with little fluency, labouring badly over circuit out, lost touch soon after.
