won this race last year from a 7 lb higher mark and justified strong support to repeat the dose with different headgear fitted; jumped boldly, led from third, drew clear before 3 out, reduced advantage between last 2, joined flat, outbattled runner-up; his record suggests he wouldn't be certain to reproduce this form next time.

A soundly-run small-field handicap chase, the well-supported Grove Silver winning the early battle for the lead and fending off a late challenge to land this race for a second successive year.

GROVE SILVER (IRE) won this race last year from a 7 lb higher mark and justified strong support to repeat the dose with different headgear fitted; jumped boldly, led from third, drew clear before 3 out, reduced advantage between last 2, joined flat, outbattled runner-up; his record suggests he wouldn't be certain to reproduce this form next time.

CARALINE (FR) back up in trip and amateur ridden, ran one of this season's lesser races; chased leaders, went second halfway, driven after 3 out, lost second next, beaten before last.
