is a credit to connections and produced yet another career best just when it appeared his progress had ended, though prominent tactics in a race that wasn't truly run (such rides rarely a bad thing at this track over hurdles generally) certainly saw him to best advantage; disputed lead, jumped fluently, quickened between 4 out and 3 out, in command from home turn, kept going well; as genuine as they come, but it's unlikely he'll have the same luxury as here up in the weights in a stronger handicap.

has always promised plenty and might well have finally improved based on this encouraging return from 7 months off, doing easily best of the rest behind one who'd had the run of things; in touch, progress 3 out, took second early in straight, jumped right last 2, stayed on; should go well again.

has returned in good heart, not seen to best effect around here under trademark patient tactics down in trip; waited with, crept closer before 3 out, pushed along approaching straight, kept on well from 2 out, took third run-in; he's still relatively unexposed over 3m+.

shaped much better than distance beaten suggests, though as on his reappearance he did far more on the bridle than off it, harder to excuse this time (fitness nor trip realistically to blame); tracked pace, travelled as well as any, second end of back straight, shaken up entering straight, faltered approaching 2 out.

probably needed the run after 12 months off, also not seen to best effect under hold-up tactics; dropped out, went with zest, progress out wide briefly 3 out, not sustain effort; should be much closer to form next time, and despite his age he could be worth another try over fences (claimer ridden when failing to complete in 2 previous attempts).

didn't have the chance the market suggested (price possibly influenced by Volnay de Thaix's impressive success the day before) making handicap debut after 6 months off but shaped as if amiss in any case; mid-division, not fluent seventh, driven approaching 3 out, beaten when eased approaching home turn, pulled up early in straight, dismounted.

All 9 ran. Hurdles: 11.

Winning Owner: Celia & Michael Baker

Time: 5m 7.85s

Overrounds: Industry SP 111%, Betfair SP 100%

Some useful hurdlers on show but several of the field were reappearing and the winner was probably at an advantage in helping set a pace that wasn't at all breakneck, not seeing another rival after going for home from the third last, the majority behind failing to show their form.
