hadn't cut much ice in novices/maidens in Ireland but, turned out again quickly, proved a different proposition sent handicapping, the step up in trip very much in his favour; close up, jumped soundly, ridden approaching 3 out, edged ahead before last, driven out; completely unexposed as a stayer and open to further improvement.

is having a most resurgent season and continued in top form back down in trip after 8 weeks off, unlucky to bump into an improving novice almost half his age; made running, jumped soundly, tackled between 3 out and 2 out, headed approaching last, no extra run-in; he might be 11 but remains totally unexposed at extreme distances and could be a likely candidate for the Eider back at Newcastle next month.

A lively betting market but a fairly uneventful affair, the first 2 having it to themselves from early in the straight, whilst the timefigure adds some solidity to the form.
