upped in trip, showed improved form to win on just his second start for his current yard (first a novice hurdle), only 5 but quite experienced already over fences, the margin, with fallers at the last, flattering him somewhat; held up, not settle fully, went prominent after eighth, mistake twelfth, loomed up 3 out, led before next, in control when slow last, ridden and ran on.

lightly raced last season, showed he retains his ability, while shaping as if just needing the run after 7 months off, running out of steam in the closing stages and likely to have been only fourth had a couple of others not fallen at the last; close up, took keen hold, shaken up briefly twelfth, ridden 3 out, every chance early in straight, mistake 2 out, beaten when left second again last, no extra.

ran respectably after 6 months off, though he had the run of the race and perhaps isn't the force he was this time last season; led, jumped left, took keen hold, quickened early final circuit, headed early in straight, soon done with, left third at last.

wasn't disgraced after 7 months off, though he'd have been behind at least 3 - and probably 4 - of those that came down at the last had they completed; held up, ridden when hampered seventeenth, never a threat.

was well backed after 7 months off, but he'd been a bit underwhelming as a novice last season and turned in a lacklustre display on his return, more patiently ridden than usual (in a situation where a ride from the front might have been beneficial); held up, mistake second, labouring 4 out, blundered next.

well backed, even though 4 lb out of the handicap, would have gone close had he not come down at the last, sure to have been second at worst; held up, mistake thirteenth, outpaced 4 out, rallied well after 2 out, closing when fell last; his record of 0-7 with one placing over fences belies his ability, as he hasn't had many tries at 3m.

was running a much more encouraging race - in a more competitive contest to boot - than he had on his recent return only to come down at the last, in second at the time and sure to have finished ahead of the eventual runner-up, though probably behind another of the fallers, Yeah Man; in touch, took keen hold, effort 3 out, keeping on when fell last.

looked in good shape after 8 months off and was the pick of the weights on his third in the Ultima but one jumping error cost him his chance, easy to put a line through the run; soon steadied, yet to be asked for effort when bad mistake sixteenth, not recover, pulled up before 2 out; remains capable of better and sure to be of interest again off this mark in something like the Coral Gold Cup.

A good-quality handicap with a wide-open look to it, though only 2 of the 11 had been out since the spring and it developed into a messy race, the pace steady until early on the final circuit; remarkably, 5 departed at the last, which had quite an impact on the result, Yeah Man and Unanswered Prayer sure to have finished ahead of the runner-up and the former likely to have threatened the winner, with Flegmatic likely to have been close to the third; the 2021 winner Larry refused to line up and was withdrawn at the start.

VICTTORINO (FR) upped in trip, showed improved form to win on just his second start for his current yard (first a novice hurdle), only 5 but quite experienced already over fences, the margin, with fallers at the last, flattering him somewhat; held up, not settle fully, went prominent after eighth, mistake twelfth, loomed up 3 out, led before next, in control when slow last, ridden and ran on.
