without a hood this time, was the least exposed and showed improved form to prove that his mark wasn't as stiff as initially feared, his slightly ungainly way of going about things seeming ingrained but giving it everything all the same; waited with, driven under 2f out, progress 1f out, edged right final 50 yds, shared spoils line.

well backed, has been a model of consistency for a while and finally ended a losing run of almost 3 years, breaking on terms this time and seen to good effect from the front; disputed lead, went on over 2f out, joined post, had the run of the race; isn't an obvious type to follow up.

who sweated up, albeit on a very warm day, was easy to back despite his Royal Hunt Cup form 11 weeks earlier having produced winners and turned in best effort of the season, though does seem to find winning hard of late; handy, driven 2f out, every chance 1f out, not quicken only late on; well positioned.

up in grade, albeit not a particularly deep contest, dipped a little below his recent consistent levels, a stronger gallop perhaps likely to have suited more; in rear, ridden over 2f out, brief headway approaching final 1f, no further impression.

easy to back, had bumped into a prolific stablemate last time but ran too badly to be true after 6 weeks off; disputed lead until over 2f out, weakening when wandered 1f out (not persevered with).

A disappointing turnout for the prize money on offer and a pair at opposite ends of the betting and their careers shared the spoils, the well-backed veteran Ouzo subject of a well-judged front-running ride, the form no more than ordinary for the grade.
